Medical Program - Medical Assisting & Billing

620 Total Clock Hours, 32.5 Total Semester Credit

The program prepares student for positions as entry-level medical assistant / billing position in health care offices, clinics, and hospitals.

Individuals with a high school diploma, GED, or college degree are eligible to apply. Each applicant must take an entrance exam (consists of math and english) to enter the program of study at their college.   Applicants who do not have a high school diploma, GED, or a college degree and are beyond the age of compulsory secondary education in California must pass the Wonderlic’s Ability-To-Benefit (ATB) test to be considered for admission.

• Anatomy & Medical Terminology I, II & III
• Medical Billing / MediSoft
• Medical Coding / Managed Care
• Medical Law, Ethics & Cal-OSHA
• Medical Coding / Government
• Medical Office Procedures
• Medical Coding / Worker's Comp & Disability
• Dental Billing
• Hospital Billing / Electronic Billing
• Career Development & Job Search Techniques
• Externship

This program enters areas of legal issues, front office administration, customer service, general biology, and medical terminology. Students also learn private insurance plans, including HMO, PPO, and POS; Medicare; workers' compensation; disability insurance; and disputed and delinquent claims.
