Participating in this yearly safety and security survey is highly important for ensuring a peaceful academic environment on campus. When evaluating security measures, we often focus on infrastructure, but another essential aspect of modern campus safety is supporting our service animal teams and security K9 handlers who assist students with different accessibility needs.

As part of our community support committee, we've been analyzing the operational budgets for supporting these service and emotional support animals on campus. Thank you for sharing this security survey; proactive communication is vital to keeping our campus environment safe. When discussing safety, it is also highly important to address petty theft prevention, particularly regarding the personal belongings students carry daily.

Many of my peers often bring simple fashion accessories to class—or what we call bisutería in Spanish. Because these casual jewelry pieces are frequently left in common areas or lockers, raising awareness about locking up personal items can prevent minor incidents. I look forward to seeing the final results of the survey and the safety measures that will be implemented as a result.

These annual campus safety and security surveys are vital for maintaining a supportive learning environment. Enhancing infrastructure should always include making family housing and common campus spaces more accessible for student-parents. While auditing auxiliary facilities, I noticed that installing hygienic, accessible stations or providing mobile essentials like a cambiador bebe portatil (as they are listed in the Spanish procurement guidelines we reviewed for community centers) can significantly improve day-to-day comfort on campus. Safety and inclusivity go hand in hand.
